Plant 4 Bowden Markets

4I headed down to Plant 4 Bowden on a Wednesday night to check out the markets and food on offer and I was pretty impressed! Plant 4 Bowden has worked with Renewal SA to create this space in Bowden Park where they hold weekly markets every Wednesday 4-9pm and Saturday 9am-3pm. Set on the Bowden Town Square, it is a beautiful location and only minutes from the city.

For dinner I decided to try a Bobs All in Bowl from Bobs Bowls. Yes, I had a Vegan bowl. I know, I’m shocked too. This Bowl consisted of Baby Spinach, Cumin Pumpkin, Pickled Zucchini, Red Lentils, Brown Rice, Toasted Cashews, Fresh Herbs and a Thai Sweet Potato Tofu Slice. It was actually yum. I must admit I was not expecting much more than a very healthy and bland salad, but I was pleasantly surprised. I loved the flavour of the Zucchini and the addition of Mint really made the difference to the bowls freshness. There were so many different ingredients that married so well together. The Tofu Slice however was not to my liking though. That was maybe a little too far on the healthy side 😛 But once I avoided that I was happy. Definitely a winner for any Vegans or non Vegans looking for a healthy yet delicious meal.

We couldn’t walk past Simply Sarj without trying some of their delicious looking food. The woman at the stand, who I’m assuming was Sarj, was so friendly and inviting and loved having a chat. We tried a dish of Stir Fried Noodles and they were great. They were dressed well in a Sweet and Sticky Soy based sauce and with plenty of Vegetables throughout. It was flavorsome and a little bit spicy. Only negative is that the Noodles were cold. Not completely cold, but it would have been a lot better served warm. I appreciate the difficulty this may be as made in bulk batches, but it was the only element that let the dish down. We also tried these pastry/fritter/dumpling things (okay I have no idea what they were called) and they were amazing!  They reminded me slightly of the Italian Zeppoli dough, but filled with a cheese filling of some sort. They were awesome.

For dessert we opted for a raw dessert since it’s one of my favourites and there seemed to be a lot of options. We went for the Raw Snickers Slice from Sweet Nectar. It was so delicious! I had previously thought the Snickers Slice from Argos was my favourite, but now my life has been changed. It would have been nice to have a few more nuts throughout the slice, which is what I love about the Snickers Slice at Argos, but the richness of the Chocolate layer and every flavour combined was so delicious. I was left wanting more.

Other than the food, I loved the atmosphere of the Plant 4 Bowden Markets. There were a great variety of stalls from Jewellery, Clothing, Candles and even Henna Tattoos. The outdoor area is beautiful and perfect for summer evenings. It is a great spot for a light dinner and shop with friends and is in the perfect location. I would definitely return to Plant 4 Bowden in the future and recommend anyone else to do the same.

Until next time x
